In my experience, Daphnia can survive in transit for up to 2 weeks. However, courier delays or extreme heat (parcels left in sun or hot van) can still cause death. In summer, around 20% of parcels may arrive dead if left in direct sunlight. To reduce risk: Please track your parcel and collect it as soon as it arrives. If all Daphnia arrive dead, contact me immediately on the same day with a clear photo or video. I offer one free replacement – you only pay the shipping fee again. Why choose home-bred Daphnia? Wild Daphnia may carry viruses that can kill your fish. Wild Daphnia also die easily. Home-bred Daphnia are more stable and safer for your fish. Why start a Daphnia culture? Unlike brine shrimp (which you must hatch and use immediately), Daphnia live in fresh water, grow, and reproduce continuously. They are easy to care for and provide long-lasting live food. Bettas especially love them, and live food brings out more vivid colours. What you will receive: 100–200 adult Daphnia (with eggs, so they can survive up to 2 weeks in transit if delayed). Do not think 100 is too few. Daphnia lay eggs every 2–3 days, 5–8 eggs each time. Eggs grow up in about 3 days, fully grown in 2 weeks.
